TDS GTNXi conflict with Air Manager GFC500
#1
There appears to be a conflict between the TDS GTNXi GTN750/650 and the Air Manager GFC 500 Autopilot.  Specifically, when the GTN750xi or GTN650xi are running along with MSFS 2024, the heading mode on the GFC 500 Autopilot does not work.  Here is some testing that I have done to try and narrow down the issue:
When running the Air Manager GFC 500 in an airplane in MSFS 2024, all lateral and vertical functions work correctly, including the Hdg Mode.  When I run the TDS GTNxi app initially, without turning on the 750 or 650, the heading mode continues to work just fine.  But as soon as I display the 750 or 650, the heading mode immediately turns off.  At this point, only the Nav lateral mode works. I tried adjusting some of the GTN settings including:  Change the Nav Source to Flight Simulator vs GTN750.  Turn off the "Connect GPS to HSI OBS (Auto-Slew)" option.  Turn off the "CDI Key" option.  None of these options have any effect with the noted issue.

Hello,

Please do not:"Change the Nav Source to Flight Simulator vs GTN750" As this will disable the GTNXi. This is a legacy feature which we will disable in the future.

We will need a bit more information:

When exactly does the heading mode on the GFC 500 autopilot does not work with the TDS GTNXi? When the GTNXi is in GPS or VLOC mode? For GPS there also needs to be at least an active DTO or flight plan.
Which aircraft are you using in MSFS?

There is no need to adjust settings at this point, as we want to look into this as well.

Can you please answer our questions, then let's continue the discussion in our #community-support-msfs Discord channel, as we have quite a few Air Manager users there. Here is a link to our Discord:

Not to worry, we will do our best to assist from our side and if this is a TDS bug, we will do our best to get it solved.

I am using the stand-alone version of the TDS GTNXi Flight Sim. The heading mode still works when I start the TDS GTNXi Flight Sim app. However, as soon as I click on the GTN 750XI to bring up the pop-up window, the heading mode is disabled. That is prior to setting a flight plan or the GPS/VLOC mode. I've tried it in the Carenado Seneca PA34 airplane, as well as the standard Cessna 172 Skyhawk. As soon as I click on the GTN750Xi, regardless of which airplane, the heading mode is disabled on the Air Manager GFC 500 autopilot.

Hello,

Thank you for the information.

For the default C172 did you install the TDS GTNXi mod?

In addition, for the Carenado Seneca, are you selecting the TDS GTNXi GPS option?

For the Seneca, I was unable to get the embedded GTNXi to work within the VC. A Carenado app is supposed to appear on the EFB which would then allow me to enable the GTNXi. However, the Carenado app does not appear on the EBF. So I have been using the stand-along pop-up of the GTNxi.

Similarly, I have been using the GTNXI in pop-up mode for the 172 as well. If using the GTNXI in pop-up mode, do I still need to install the TDS GTNXI mod in the C172?

Hello,

For both aircraft you still need to select the proper TDS GTNXi configuration, otherwise conflicts with the other GPS units will occur.

For the Carenaado Seneca, as it is an older aircraft, you need to use the Carenado Virtual Tablet which is located in the copilot's footrest.

For the default C172 analog, yes, you need to download and install the TDS GTNXi Pro VC integration mod:

I downloaded and installed the TDS GTNXi Pro VC Integration mod as instructed.  The GTN750Xi and 650XI are both greyed out within the VC.  A couple of weeks back, when I decided to switch over to the standalone TDS 760/650 I was having an issue in that the pop-ups would disappear when I ran MSFS 2024 stating that they were already running in VC mode. So at that time I saw a reference stating that I needed to remove the GTNXi Folder from the Community Folder, which I did at that time.  I actually prefer running the 750/650 in stand-alone mode rather than VC mode anyway.

Oh wait, I just went back in and the HDG mode works fine now.  So even though installing the integration mode resulted in a greyed out 750 and 650 in the VC, it also fixed the Autopilot HDG problem!  Since I prefer to run the 750/650 in stand-alone mode anyway, this works for me.  So you're right, it must have been a conflict between the GTNXI and the other GPS units in the VC.  Now I just need to figure out how to get the mod properly installed in the Carenado Seneca.

As I continue to research the issue of trying to get the TDS GTNXi running with the Carenado Seneca, I noticed that when I run the TDS GPS Manager (v1.0.1.6), it states that the Flight Simulator 2024 is "Partly Installed" and gives me the option to "Reinstall."  When I click on the Reinstall, I get a pop-up indicating "Error Installing:  TDSGTNXiFlightSimEXE.exe, SimConnect.dll, TDSGTNServices.dll, TDSROARService.exe, TDSGTNXiFlightSimManual.pdf, CYOW-CYTZ.gfp."  What is causing this "Partly Installed" issue?  Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the Flight Simulator 2024?
Final edit and closing out this issue: I had to add the TDS programs to the exclude list in my Wndows Defender firewall.  This allowed the application to fully install.  And as far as not being able to get the GTNXi integrated into the Carenado VC:  I didn't realize there was a Carenado EFB that is separate and distinct from the MSFS EFB.  Once I found that EFB in the magazine pouch on the co-pilot side, I opened it and set the GTN750Xi option.  This resulted in successfully installing the GTN750XI and GTN650Xi into the VC of the Seneca, which then also solved the conflict with the GFC 500 autopilot.  So all is working well now.  Thanks for the support!

Hello, indeed for MSFS 2020 native aircraft, such as the Carenado Seneca, the add-on aircraft developer (not TDS) have decided to integrate their own virtual tablet for settings, such as GPS selection.

We hope that you will enjoy the TDS GTNXi Pro.
