ILS glideslope disappears when a flight plan is entered
#1
Good day, and thanks for the amazing work!

I am using the TDS in an AirManager panel, that includes dual G5s.

It replicates a panel in an airplane I train students in, and fly myself. One airplane has the 650 and a GFC 500 autopilot, along with two G5s. Another has a 750, two G5s and no autopilot.

So, the only issue I've found is that, when an ILS approach is loaded in to the 750, the G5s stop receiving the glideslope.

The get the localizer just fine, which makes me think it's a bug.

The good news is that that is the ONLY issue I've found! I LOVE your work. My club has dozens of airplanes with these units (50?) and having them properly supported is a game changer. We've got 2,900 members.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Regards,

Ron

Hello Ron,

Thank you for your kind words. As you are using the G5, let's see if this is a G5 issue or a TDS issue.

Is the GTNXi in GPS or VLOC mode? Can you please re-test the same flight using a non G5 aircraft and check the ILS glideslope?

The license sold on our website is for entertainment use of the TDS GTNXi, anything non-entertainment is not allowed, for this please contact us via email: support@tdssim.com and we will discuss there.

Not to worry, from our end we work on continually improving the TDS GTNXi!

I'm just testing at the moment... :-) I'll reach out if I use it for making $

So, I do have the CDI on green needles. The glideslope is seen in the sim, on the actual VOR. I suspect this is a dataref issue... Just a thought. When I get a chance I'll look at the dataref the instrument in Air Manager is looking for and get back to ya.

Thanks!

Hello Ron,

Can you please let us know of the datarefs being used in the G5, if possible. In addition a few screenshots will help, showing both the GTNXi unit/units and the G5; as well as the flight plan.

Based on the screenshots we will let you know which datarefs to look into.

As far as the license, the TDS GTNXi XPlane Professional is for anything non-entertainment use, this is a legal obligation that we have to follow; it is a misconception for using the Professional for making money/selling services.

Understood. I'll just use this for my own enjoyment! :-)

I've been able to characternize it further. The issue occurs any time there is a gps path... Either flying on a gps flight plan, or even a direct-to .

As for the issue, it looks like it's JUST an issue with the 'no glideslope' flag in airmanager.

Below is a screenshot of it working properly, but there is no path from the GPS.  The pic below that is after using the Direct To button on the gps to generate a path directly to KMYF, the airport with the ILS. Basically, the no-GS flag comes up. The needles on the analog instruments still work, but if the No-GS flag comes up on the G5, you can't see it.

Thanks again for the quick responses?

Hello,

Thank you for the information, can you please provide us with the dataref used by the G5 to display the 'no glideslope' flag?

Hello,

As we are investigating this bug, we think that it could be TDS related, we are currently testing a tentative bug fix.

hi,
i am experiencing quite the same problem and did my own investigation, that may could help you fixing the problem. I am also using Air Manager and upon the glide problem, i notice also that sometimes I cannot use the bezel buttons (Home, GoTo), except selecting via mi finger the rotating knobs. I cannot swith from COM to NAV on the GTN 650 too.
I didn't think it was useful to open a nex discussion as I think it is related. But feel free to move my email if you consider it is more beneficial for the community.

- SR22 Torquesim Avidyne GFC90 + GTN750/650:
                    - cannot use the bezel switches bot on GTN750 and GTN650
                    - I can select APR mode but glide does not appear
- C172 XP12 G1000:
                    - glide OK
                    - APR mode OK
- C172 XP analog + GTN650:
                    - cannot use the bezel switches
                    - glide OK
                    - APR mode OK
- C172 XP G5x2 + GTN 750+650:
                     - cannot use the bezel switches
                     - GTN650 (NAV2) seems to receive the ILS approach but without the glide as only LOC appears when APR mode selected
                     - NAV1 HSI on G5: no glide
                     - NAV2 OBI: glide OK
- C172 XP analog + GNS530 XP + Bendix:
                     - glide OK on both NAV1 and NAV2

Hipe this helps and that will allow you guys to fix the problem.

Hello Fred,

Thank you for your message.

As we have stated above, we think that the glideslope in VLOC mode has been an issue that will be fixed in the next version; please let us know once we release V1.0.0.7.
For the SR22 bug posted above, in which conditions APR does not work? VLOC or GPS mode?

As far as the bezel switches, we do not know how AirManager works (the Home/DTO are called keys in the GTNXi). Do you have technical details on how they are implemented? The keys need to be pressed for a bit of time, a quick press will not result in the key registering.

Thanks,
Will wait for v1.0.0.7! :-)

For sr22, I mean in VLOC mode with an ILS and green course.

For the bezel, I do not really understand, I will investigate asap but as far as I know it was not the case before V1.0.0.6.
Keys do not respond, as well as when I push the rotating knob to switch between COM and NAV.
Regards
